Week Commencing 15th November

Time is flying past! Thanks for all your help and support so far, we are having a great half term!

We have a trip to the cinema this week and are very excited. The school has made the decision that no snacks or drinks will be taken to the cinema. We will be walking to the cinema from the school and will be back by lunch time. If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Here’s what we will be learning next week:

English- We will be continuing to build vocabulary and reading skills in our grammar lessons on Monday and Friday. The focus for grammar this week is descriptive writing with emphasis on suffixes such as -less or -ful; in our reading skills, we are looking at meanings of words and synonyms. Our class text is Into the Forest by Anthony Browne and we are working on descriptive writing about storms.

Our class read is The Boy with the Bronze Axe by Kathleen Fidler.

We will be beginning to send home reading books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for those children who have not already chosen them. Reading diaries should be brought to school each day.

Maths- We will be working on column subtraction this week, beginning with calculations which do not cross the tens or hundreds boundaries, and moving to calculations involving exchanging towards the end of the week.

If your child would like to practise their learning at home, there are lots of free games which they can use, including Daily 10 from Topmarks or Hit the Button

PE- We will be continuing to work on skipping and basketball skills this week.

ICT- We will be working on basic computing skills, opening and saving documents and typing skills.

Science- We will be designing a game using magnets.

Homework- We will post homework on Google Classroom each week. We have added tasks to Mathletics. Additionally, the children will have access to Language Angels to practise their new vocabulary in Spanish. We hope to give your child access to TTRockstars also this week, a fun way to practise times tables.

PE will take place on Monday and Tuesday for Blackfriars class and Tuesday and Thursday for Waterloo class. Children should come to school in their school PE kits on those days.

RHE- We are thinking about ways to resolve conflicts

Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school each day.
