What we will be learning in Year 3 this week:

English- We will be continuing to read the story of Ug Boy Genius of the Stone Age by Raymond Briggs. This week  we will then be continuing to write a diary entry written in role as Ug, considering how he might feel about the events of the story and spending some time editing and improving our writing.

Our class read is The Boy with the Bronze Axe by Kathleen Fidler. Children also have access to a range of Raymond Briggs books which allow them to explore more of his writing.

We will be beginning to send home reading books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for those children who have not already chosen them. Reading diaries should be brought to school each day.

Maths- We will be continuing to add 2 3-digit numbers both with and without adjusting and addition using redistribution, finding the difference and finding the difference using efficient strategies.

Some of the representations we will be using are;

Additionally, the children will have access to Language Angels to practise their new vocabulary in Spanish. PE will take place on Monday and Tuesday for Blackfriars class and Tuesday and Thursday for Waterloo class. Children should come to school in their school PE kits on those days.

RHE- We are continuing to consider the importance of our rights and responsibilities in school and considering how these could be used to introduce a learning charter. we will also be considering the choices we make and the consequences which may apply if we do not follow class and school rules.

On Friday, Year 3 have an amazing opportunity to visit a tennis club and try out a range of racket sports. They will need to have a packed lunch and plenty of water. Children will need to wear their PE kits and trainers. They will travel by coach which will leave school at 9.15 and return in time for the normal end of the day.
