What we will be learning in Year 3 this week:
English- We will be continuing to read the story of Ug Boy Genius of the Stone Age by Raymond Briggs. This week we will be comparing Ug’s world to the world today, imagining what Ug’s Stone Age community might look like and how it is different from ours. After that, we will be imagining how the future might be different to the modern world. We are going to write descriptions and compare our ideas about past and future communities.
Our class read is The Boy with the Bronze Axe by Kathleen Fidler. Children also have access to a range of Raymond Briggs books which allow them to explore more of his writing.
We will be beginning to send home reading books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for those children who have not already chosen them. Reading diaries should be brought to school each day.
Maths- We will be continuing to work on place value, placing numbers on a blank 0-1000 number line, determining the size of a 3-digit number by looking at hundreds, tens and ones, partitioning numbers using knowledge of hundreds, tens and ones, partitioning numbers in different ways and adding hundreds, tens and ones without bridging the hundreds barrier..

PE- We will be continuing to work on football skills and footwork skills in our lessons.
ICT- We will be thinking about safely using email as a form of communication and as a way to collaborate with others on a piece of work.
Science- We will be sorting magnetic and non-magnetic objects.
Homework- We have been looking at inventions which changed the Stone Age world in both English and History. Over the next couple of weeks, we would like children to find out about a person who changed the world and display their information on a poster which we can display at school. Please see below for full details.
We have also added tasks to Mathletics. Additionally, the children will have access to Language Angels to practise their new vocabulary in Spanish. We hope to give your child access to TTRockstars also this week, a fun way to practise times tables.
PE will take place on Monday and Tuesday for Blackfriars class and Tuesday and Thursday for Waterloo class. Children should come to school in their school PE kits on those days.
Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school each day.
