https://www.spellzone.com/word_lists/list-4614.htm
This week our grammar is an integrated part of our daily lessons. We will learn about expanded noun phrases and rhetorical questions.
In English this week we will work towards creating an advertisement for the soup which the children made last week.
- Day 1 – Think of a name for your soup. Your name could include alliteration (e.g super soup) a rhyme (e.g chic leak soup) or a description (e.g spicy potato and chilli pepper soup.) Put the name of your soup in the middle of a spider diagram. Write around all the positive words you can think of to describe your soup (e.g healthy, crunchy, delicious).
- Day 2 -Follow the lesson on expanded noun phrases from BBC bitesize.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/znpbgwx
Now think of some expanded noun phrases to describe your soup (e.g a healthy soup with sweet carrots).
Day 3 – Look at the PowerPoint on rhetorical questions.

Now complete the attached sheets. The sheets are differentiated children in Violet Group or Toy Story Group should use the one star sheet. The two star sheet should be right for most children. If you really want to challenge yourself you could have a go at the three star sheet.

Now think of a rhetorical question you could use for your soup advert (e.g are you looking for a soup that’s both healthy and delicious?)
- Day 4 – Plan a magazine advert for your soup using the persuasive words, expanded noun phrases and rhetorical question you have thought about this week.
- Day 5 – Now create your magazine advert for your soup using your plan and illustrations. You can use the template below or create your own.
