SUMMER TERM 1 TOPIC: Caring for Animals

Theme: Minibeast

LITERACY:

Book Focus: The very busy spider by Eric Carle

We continue our learning about minibeasts this week with this delightful story about a very industrious little spider.

Phonics: Group Phonics will focus on reviewing previous sounds and speedy blending of cvc and multisyllabic words

MATHS:

This week the children will be use strategies learnt to solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing. The children have now learnt how to use the following strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems: to use objects/counters, to count on or back along a number line, to draw pictures to represent a number story, to use a tens frame or to ‘hold’ the bigger number in your head and count on or back. They are really enjoying using these different ways to solve number stories.

PE: Team game skills. [/dropshadowbox]
