LITERACY: Creating stories
The children have thoroughly enjoyed engaging their imagination to create amazing stories about the naughty bus so this week we will continue with their interest and develop their ideas for creating other stories, focusing on the use of story language (eg Once upon a time, a long time ago, suddenly, etc) and elements of story structure (beginning, middle, end, characters, setting, plot, etc)
MATHS: Review counting and number recognition skills and find one more and one less than a given number.
PHONICS: The children are now learning Phonics in smaller groups. This is to ensure that they learn phonic skills at the pace at which they are making progress.
Group Phonics Focus:
Miss Pillay and Miss Oldman’s group: blending cvc words, and securing instant recognition and formation of all Phase 2 sounds
Miss Dale’s group: blending cvc words and securing instant recognition of Phase 3 digraphs within a word.
Miss Thompson’s group: Review Phase 3 long vowel sounds: /ai/, /ee/, /igh/, /oa/ and /oo/ and securing instant recognition of these sounds within a word. [/dropshadowbox]
