Please refer to the Parent Guide for information about our two week staggered entry programme for Reception children. Should you require clarity on anything, please do not hesitate to ask us when you arrive or contact the school office

During these two weeks, please feel free to join your child in the classroom for self-registration and an activity of their choosing and you may leave when you feel your child has settled sufficiently.  We ask that you please return promptly at the end of the session to pick up your child so that we may prepare for the next session or day.

TOPIC: All about me

Book Focus: Harry and the Dinosaurs go to school by Ian Whybrow

The children will certainly identify with the main character, Harry, in this delightful book which is all about a child’s first day at school. Just like Harry, your children will be experiencing a range of emotions on their first day and we will spend as much time as is needed to make them feel safe and secure in their new environment.

Settling in: During this week we will focus on getting to know the children and their interests.  They will also learn about the rules and routines of their new environment.

By the end of the week the children should feel a bit more comfortable and settled. However, please note that every child adapts to new surroundings at their own pace, so if you are concerned about anything, please come and speak to any of our staff and we will be glad to be of assistance.
