Phonics: Assisted blending to decode cvc words with the following sounds: /s/a/t/p/i/n/m/d/g/o/c/k/ck. Please use the video above for extra practice.
Your child will bring home a list of words to decode. Please keep these at home and practise daily decoding.
MATHS:
• To practise number formation
• To develop quick recognition of quantities up to 5 by looking at arrangements of these quantities. This is known as subitizing - see video above
Understanding the world: To discuss the celebrations that occur in December and how different people in the world celebrate. We will talk about the significance of the Advent calendar for some Christians.

LITERACY
Book Focus: On The Moon by Anna Milbourne and Benji Davies
We will explore a range of fiction and non-fiction books about space and our solar system. We will discuss the difference between fact and fiction books and how factual books help with our learning.
Phonics: /j/, /v/, /w/, /x / and /y/
MATHS
To develop their understanding of one more and less than a number. We will explore how and why numbers can be ordered.
CAL: To show an understanding of prepositional language by the use of words such as: under, next to, on top, behind and in front.
EAD: The children will continue to learn a few festive songs for their Christmas performance next month
HOMEWORK
Learning about Space
Can you draw a picture of the planets in our Solar System? Can you use your knowledge of initial sounds to write labels for each planet in your picture? Which is the smallest planet? Which is the biggest planet?
