SUMMER TERM 1 TOPIC: Caring for Animals
Theme: Minibeast
LITERACY:
Book Focus: The Bad Tempered Ladybird by Eric Carle
The children really enjoyed Eric Carle’s story so we have selected another one of his popular books to continue our learning about minibeasts this week
Phonics: Group Phonics will focus on reviewing previous sounds and speedy blending of cvc and multisyllabic words
MATHS:
This week the children will be use strategies learnt to solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing. The children have now learnt how to use the following strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems: to use objects/counters, to count on or back along a number line, to draw pictures to represent a number story, to use a tens frame or to ‘hold’ the bigger number in your head and count on or back. They are really enjoying using these different ways to solve number stories.
PE: There will not be a PE lesson this week as the children will be having their photos taken on Friday so you may pick up their PE kits for washing. [/dropshadowbox]
