Welcome all Year 6 parents and pupils.

  I am Miss Mayley, the Year 6 class teacher, and our TA is Mrs Thambiayah.

Week beginning 18th December 2017

December 13, 2017

This is the last week of school before we break up on Wednesday 20th for Christmas and there are lots of different activities going on in school.

There will still be plenty of opportunities for learning to continue in amongst everything else.

Maths-We will be looking at long division

English-Writing–We will be making a class book of our Newspaper articles about The Pied Piper of Hamelin.

Reading-We will be continuing to read Holes by Louis Sachar.

History-We will be continuing to look at how Britain prepared for war and the precautions it took

R.E-We will be focusing on Christianity this week and the Christmas story.  We will be looking at the symbol of light and what it means at Christmas time.  We will be making Christingles which represent different parts of the Christian faith at Christmas time.

The children will be set homework to complete over the holiday so please make sure they complete a little bit each night otherwise they will have a lot to do if they leave it to the night before we come back to school.

Thank you to all of those who came and supported the Christmas Fayre on Saturday.  It was a great success.

Congratulations to all Year 6 who received a merit card this week.  They have shown great maturity helping to support other adults within the school on a daily basis.  Thank you.

Monday 18th-Year 6 Christmas performance at 6pm in School

Tuesday 19th-Class parties in the afternoon.  Children can wear their own clothes this day.  Please make sure they have returned the slip that tells us what they will be providing at the party.

Wednesday 20th-Last day of term. Attendance assembly.   School finishes at 3.30pm.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Week beginning 11th December

Maths-We will be learning how to convert between metric and imperial measurements.

English-  This week we will be studying the poem ‘The Pied Piper ‘ and creating writing based on it.

Science-We will be studying Sound!

P.E-There is the last swimming of the term.  Please make sure you bring costumes and towels with you.

Our second PE lesson will be gymnastics in the hall.  Only plimsolls or bare feet are allowed.

Topic-The topic for this term is World War 2.  This will continue throughout the Autumn term by Mrs Adams.  Last week we had a visitor to our classroom who spoke to us about being evacuated during World War 2.  It was so interesting to hear what she had to say.

R.E-We will be continuing our work on Buddhism with Mrs Adams.

Computing-We will be continuing to  create our own APP with Mr Govinden.

Please remember the Christmas Fair is on Saturday 9th December.  It would be great if you could support the school.

Friday 15th December-Christmas lunch and Christmas Jumper day.

Monday 18th December 2017- The Year 6 Christmas Performance is at 6pm at school.

Tuesday 19th December-Class Parties are in the afternoon.  Please look out for a letter that your child will be taking home over the next few days.

Wednesday 20th December-Last day of term!!

Congratulations to all those who received a merit card and a Privilege Card this week.  Keep up the hard work.

Congratulations to all the children who spoke at City Hall.  You represented the school so well and all the adults were very proud of the way you spoke.
