Week beginning 24th April

April 24, 2017

This week we will be busy revising Spelling, punctuation and grammar work as well as Maths in preparation for our SATS tests which start on the 8th May.  We will be trying to keep the timetable as similar as it usually is which means there will still be time for Art, P.E, R.E and music.

The children will be asked to revise certain topics they are not so confident in, at home in preparation for the next lesson.  Please encourage them to do this at home, continue with mathletics and Spellodrome as well as reading every evening for at least 30mins.

Keep up the hard work Year 6! We’re all in this together.

Week beginning 27th March

March 24, 2017

This week we will be focusing on:

Maths-We will be looking at Pie charts and constructing our own

Reading-We will be continuing our class reading book-Holes by Louis Sachar.  We are learning how to skim and scan the text for key information and summarise what has happened too.

Writing-We will be writing in our writing journal about our reading book ‘The Zone’

Science-We will be completing our work about micro-organisms.

Topic-We will be continuing to look at World War 2 with a focus on the Blackout

PE-Swimming has now finished for Year 6 on Tuesdays.  Instead we will have an additional PE lesson in school.

PSHE-This week we will be looking a friendships and how to resolve problems that may occur.

Our English homework includes practising the Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling questions as well as writing in our writing journals.

We also need to make sure our Reading Passports are being completed as there are exciting prizes up for grabs.

We will also be continuing to read  ‘The Zone’.  This book is based in Nazi-occupied Britain.  Will Lizzie and Jack get the vital parts for the code-breaking machine to the Resistance?

Don’t forget we also need to complete Mathletics, Spellodrome and reading every evening.

Thank you to all the children who came to school early on Wednesday for our trip to Wembley Arena.  The children thorough;y enjoyed themselves even if they were a little tired on the way home.
