December Holidays You Didn't Know About But Need to Celebrate

During the foundation subjects this week, QE2 Class will be learning RE and Tower will be learning Music.

What are we learning this week?

Maths – 

  • To know how to multiply a three-digit by a two-digit number
  • To accurately use the method of long multiplication to multiply two, two-digit numbers (no regrouping of ones to tens)
  • To accurately use the method of long multiplication (with regrouping of ones to tens)
  • To accurately use the method of long multiplication (with regrouping of ones to tens & tens to hundreds)
  • To accurately use the method of long multiplication to multiply a three-digit by a two-digit number

English – 

This half term, our English lessons shall be centred around the core text Rose Blanche. Our weekly objectives include:

  • L.O. I can plan a letter.
  • L.O. I can write a letter.
  • L.O. I can edit and up level my writing.

Our class reading book is Holes, by Louis Sachar. Throughout the week, we shall be completing comprehension-based tasks on key chapters and events.

Science –

  • L.O. To use the idea that light travels in straight lines and reflects off a mirror, onto an object into our eye.

RE– 

  • L.O. To explore the meaning of the Eightfold Path for Buddhists.
  • L.O. To understand the importance of rules both in a personal and wider context.
  • L.O. What are the stories that Buddhists find inspiration from?
  • L.O. How do they help to explain the Buddha’s teachings?

Music –

  • listening to music focusing on dynamics and texture
  • developing techniques of performing rap using texture and rhythm
  • learning a melodic ostinato using staff notation

RHE- 

Our learning objectives this week are:

  • To make choices about my own behaviour because I understand how rewards and consequences feel and I understand how these relate to my rights and responsibilities.
  • To understand that my actions affect myself and others; To care about other people’s feelings and try to empathise with them.

PE – 

Our PE days are as follows:

QE2 – Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Tower – Tuesday and Friday

Please make sure your child comes to school wearing their full PE kit.

Geography Awareness Week - Provide Education

What are we learning this week?

Maths – 

  • To explain how to use the associative law to multiply efficiently
  • To explain how to multiply a three-digit by a two-digit number
  • To explain how to accurately use the method of long multiplication to multiply two, two-digit numbers (no regrouping of ones to tens)
  • To explain how to accurately use the method of long multiplication (with regrouping of ones to tens)
  • To explain how to accurately use the method of long multiplication (with regrouping of ones to tens & tens to hundreds

English – 

This half term, our English lessons shall be centred around the core text Rose Blanche. Our weekly objectives include:

  • I can respond to an illustration.
  • I can use hot-seating to develop characterisation.
  • I can identify and evaluate the key features of a letter.
  • I can edit and up-level an existing letter.

We shall also be completing our next Grammar and Spelling assessment.

Our class reading book is Holes, by Louis Sachar. Throughout the week, we shall be completing comprehension-based tasks on key chapters and events.

Science –

  • To understand that light travels in straight lines

Geography – 

  • To understand what maps, atlases, gloves and digital/computer mapping programmes are.
  • To understand and be able to use eight points of a compass, four  and  six figure grid references, symbols and key (including the use of Ordinance survey maps)

RHE- 

Our learning objectives this week are:

  • To understand that my actions affect other people locally and globally.
  • To understand my own wants and needs and able to compare these with children in different communities.

PE – 

Our PE days are as follows:
