Welcome all Year 6 parents and pupils.

  I am Miss Mayley, the Year 6 class teacher, and our TA is Mrs Thambiayah.

Maths – We shall be looking at decimals and fractions revision.

English – We shall be starting a new unit this week all about short stories with a flashback. We shall be using a clip called ‘The Piano’  as our stimulus.

Science – We shall be starting our new topic of light this week.

PE – Swimming lessons will continue after Christmas. Children will have their normal sports leaders session with the secondary students on Friday.

History – We shall be looking at the Blitz and how people protected themselves.

Music – We shall be practising for our Christmas performance.

Art – We shall be making our advent calendar stained glass windows.

Maths – We shall be looking at decimals and fractions revision.

English – 

We shall be continuing to look at The Pied Piper, this week. We shall be writing and editing our newspaper report based on the key events of the poem.

PE – Swimming lessons continue this week. Our Friday PE sessions will be taught by some local secondary school pupils, as part of our Sports Leader Alliance.

History – We shall be looking at the Blitz and how people protected themselves.

Music –  Our learning objective: To understand time signature and metre.

PSHE –  our learning objectives:

  • I know some ways to encourage children who use bullying behaviours to make other choices.

RE –  Buddhism –  our learning objectives:

  • I can recall Buddhism facts
