YEAR 6 ENRICHMENT WEEK

This week we will be experiencing a range of activities that will help develop the children’s wider understanding of the world and beyond.  Below is a list of the different activities that will be taking place.

Monday-Today we will meet Floella Benjamin and watch the film ‘Coming to England’.  She wrote the book and produced the film about her life in Trinidad and her experience living in England.

Tuesday-We will be walking to the cinema in Croydon and watching the film ‘Aladdin’

Wednesday-We will be catching the tram to Vue cinema on Purley Way and watching the film ‘Stan and Olly’

Thursday-We have been given a last minute opportunity to go to Pizza Express and make pizzas.

Friday-We will be continuing our project that we started last Friday with the London Ambassadors ‘WE’ charity. We will be looking at ways we can raise money for the homeless in Croydon through a range of different events.

Maths – We shall be looking at ordering fractions, adding and subtracting fractions with unrelated denominators.

English – Over this half term, our lessons shall be based on our class reading book Goodnight Mister Tom and our topic The Second World War. This week, we shall be using video imagery as a stimulus for our own war poems.

Science – Our topic this half term is Electricity. This week, we shall be looking at planning an investigation and looking at the importance of variables.

PE – Swimming lessons return this week. Our Friday PE sessions will be taught by some local secondary school pupils, as part of our Sports Leader Alliance.

History – We shall be researching about how Croydon was affected during WW2. We will also be visited by Mrs Bakka who will be teaching us all about Walter Tull. Image result for walter tull

Computing – We shall be continuing to look at online safety this half term.
