Welcome all Year 6 parents and pupils.

  I am Miss Mayley, the Year 6 class teacher, and our TA is Mrs Thambiayah.

Maths-We will be starting our first week of revision ready for SATS-This week we will be focusing on place value, negative numbers and written methods

Writing-We will be writing explanations based on our Science work

Reading-We will be continuing to read ‘A boy in striped Pyjamas’

Science-We will be continuing our work on pollination and fertilisation

Geography-We will be starting our Geography topic on Scandinavia

R.E-We will be continuing our work on Christianity.

Art-We will be studying silk paintings and making our own

P.E-There is no longer any swimming.  Instead we will be having 2 PE lessons in school-Kwick cricket and Pilates

Computing-We will continue to develop our understanding of On-line safety and APP design

PSHE-We will be looking at setting ourselves goals and looking for ways to achieve them.

SATS start in 4 weeks

May 14-18th.  Start getting a good nights rest from now.  Get into good routines at home in the morning.  Have breakfast each day and arrive in school on time.  Don’t work too hard in the evenings but do make sure that you revise areas of the maths work you still don’t feel confident with.

English-Writing–We will be writing and editing our explanation about the human heart

Reading-We will be continuing to read ‘A boy in striped Pyjamas’

Science-We will be carrying out an investigation about ‘What affects a seed’s germination?’

History-We will be learning about the end of World War 2

PSHE-This term we will be looking at ways we can keep ourselves safe and healthy.  There will be a focus on on-line safety and what you can do to keep the risks to yourself and others low.  We will also be looking at what stereotyping is and how it can be a dangerous thing.

There is a visit form the Nite Owls on Monday and each child will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with an owl which they can then buy.
Thursday 29th March is the last day of term.  School re-opens on Monday 16th April.
There will then be only 4 weeks until the SATS tests which start on Monday 14th May-Friday 18th May
