Welcome to Vauxhall Bridge Class.
Class teacher: Mr Shahzar
Teaching assistant: Mrs Hunjan
Our learning objectives this week are:
Maths – This week in maths we are revising measurement. We will be using non-standard unit of measurement and will be making estimates before investigating capacity, length and mass. We will also start to record these measurements and make comparisons identifying the heaviest/longest and the shortest/lightest. We will also be identifying events that take place during the day time and those events that would take place in the evening/night time.
English – This week we will be planning our own innovations for Jack and the Beanstalk. We will be thinking about changes we can make to create our own versions. We will then use our plan to write our innovation.
Science– Children will continue their plants work with Mrs Crooks. Last week we grew beans and will be watching them grow.
PE- We will continue to take part in fitness circuits to help us before sports day. We will also continue to develop our throwing and catching and begin to play team games.
RE- We will continue to learn about Hinduism.
Important information/ dates
Please return the photograph money back by Monday as this is the last date for them to be returned.
We hope those of you who got involved with ‘Healthy Living Week’ enjoyed it. Vauxhall class have certainly enjoyed their daily 10 minute run/walk and have seen how regular practice and exercise can help to make us fitter and healthier. Lots of us managed to complete 13 laps on our track which is half a mile and we found that the next day we had achy legs!
Our learning objectives this week are:
This week is healthy living week, so all of our learning will be focussed around healthy living.
Maths – In maths we will be revisiting money and identifying and describing all of the coins. Then linked to healthy living week the children will visit the Howard fruit shop and will be finding out the total of people’s shopping lists for buying fruit. The children will work on their addition skills to find the total and their subtraction skills to find out the amount of change needed. Children will then use the fruit shop to find the total of the fruit that they need for their fruit salad. Children will identify which coins they could use to pay for items.
English – This week we will finish sequencing and retelling ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We will also be doing some descriptive writing with the children describing what fruit looks like, tastes like and feels like.
Science– Children will continue their new topic of plants with Mrs Crocks.
D.T – The children will be designing and making a fruit salad. They will then evaluate their fruit salad identifying what they would do differently next time.
PE- We will be taking part in a skipathon on Friday and we will also be completing our daily 15 minutes around the running track where children will keep count of how many laps they can complete in 15 minutes. With the challenge to try by the end of the week to beat their score from Monday. We will also be doing fitness circuits in PE.
RE- We will continue to learn about our new religion Hinduism.
