Maths – This week we will be using place value to read numbers up to 20 and using dienes to make numbers up to 20, finding one more and one less than a given number, solve a place value problem, create different 2 digit numbers using place value and understand the terms less than, more than, largest number and smallest number.
English –We will begin to think about changes that we could make to the story to create our own version and use this to plan our own innovation of The Three Little Pigs. Children will then begin to use their plan to write their innovation.

On Friday (17th) we are visiting the V & A Museum. All children need a packed lunch as we will be eating lunch at the museum. Any questions please come and see me.
The following Friday (24th) children are raising money for Red Nose Day and as a class we are doing crazy socks and hair. Children will need to bring a pound to take part in this.
Our learning objectives this week are:
Maths – This week capacity and weight. When learning about weight children will be comparing the weight of objects using balancing scales and then order objects from the lightest to the heaviest using the mathematical vocabulary. Children will begin to estimate whether an item will weigh more or less than a given object and they will then sort objects into categories. When learning about capacity children will be filling containers to show that they are full, empty, nearly full and nearly empty. We will be comparing the capacity of two containers and predict whether a container hold more, less or about a litre.
English –We have the learnt the story ‘The three little pigs’ off by heart and will begin to sequence the story in order and writing sentences for each picture. We will ask the wolf questions during hot seating using our question words and question marks. We will begin to think about changes that we could make to the story to create our own version.
Science– Children will continue to identify and investigate materials.
PE- We will be learning to throw different balls, bean bags and javelins and identifying which technique we need for each object. We will also continue with the new scheme of work Real PE.
