Our Learning this week

English : We continue our learning with poems focusing on Autumn poems. We will read, learn and perform poems, identify features, generate Autumn vocabulary and write our own poem.

Maths : We will continue our learning with Place value using ordinal numbers as well as use number lines to find missing numbers and develop a secure understanding of how to use it effectively.

Science : We will be looking at signs of Autumn.

History : We continue our learning researching facts about Barack Obama.

Art : We will continue with pop art and use images of Barack Obama.

PSHE : We will continue our learning about Anti-Bullying, create Anti Bullying posters as well as use the book ‘ Something Else’ to discuss events and feelings of characters.

It is called ‘Sort it out’ and focus mainly on our learning about materials. We also focus on Geography – where we live. This aspect focuses firstly on identifying what Croydon is – a town and what it can offer – shops, hospitals, schools, restaurants, leisure facilities, different modes of transport etc…

We will introduce children to poetry focusing on Firework poems. Anti Bullying Week:- Our slogan is ‘United against bullying’ We will discuss ‘what is bullying?’ and how we can differentiate between bullying and falling out. We will also talk about what are the different kinds of bullying – physical, verbal, emotional, e-bullying and talk about ways to be safe and get help.

Hindus all over the world celebrate Diwali – the festival of lights or Diwas. Children will learn about the significance of this festival and how it is celebrated by Hindus.

On Monday, we have a special assembly about Diwali and children will read and tell the story of Rama and Sita.
