Recommended reading books for Year 3:

Best Books for Year 3 | Ages 7-8 | BooksForTopics

Expertly selected books for 7 and 8 year old children (lovereading4kids.co.uk)

Reading

Children are asked to read at home on a daily basis and their book should be brought to school each day. It is helpful if parents can comment regularly in their child’s Reading Record, particularly when their child has finished their book. Children are responsible for changing and selecting their own books in the morning.

Homework

Children will be given homework each Friday to be handed in by the following Tuesday. Children are also asked to learn spellings and times tables at home. They are responsible for recording their homework in their homework diary.

Other

Children are asked to bring to school a water bottle. They should have a waterproof coat when it is raining or the forecast is for rain.

  • In mathematics we will continue our work on multiplication and division and will focus on scaling.
  • In English we will plan  newspaper articles based on Lob by Linda Newbury.

  • In RE we will be preparing for a visit by our local vicar and will be writing questions to help us find out about her role.

It looks like we will continue to have some hot weather next week. Please make sure that children have hats an water bottles in school.

Week Beginning 7th June 2021

June 7, 2021

Welcome back to school for a new half term. This week our learning will be as follows;

  • In mathematics we will be working on multiplication and division facts.
  • In English we will continue with our learning based on Lob by Linda Newbury. We will explore the myth of the Green Man and study a poem based on the Green Man. We will also plan and complete a piece of free writing based on the book.
  • In science we will begin a new topic based on the body. We will look at how to keep our bodies healthy.

This week much of our focus will be on sports. We will have our sports day on Thursday and the children will take part in a carousel of activities.  We will also do a range of activities linked to sports in class. In our Tuesday session we will work on athletics. Please make sure that children are wearing PE kit on Tuesday and Thursday.

This year’s Sports Day will be held in the school grounds. Unfortunately it is not possible to invite parents to sports day this year.
