Reading

Children are asked to read at home on a daily basis and their book should be brought to school each day. It is helpful if parents can comment regularly in their child’s Reading Record, particularly when their child has finished their book. Children are responsible for changing and selecting their own books in the morning.

Homework

Children will be given homework each Friday to be handed in by the following Tuesday. Children are also asked to learn spellings and times tables at home. They are responsible for recording their homework in their homework diary.

Other

Children are asked to bring to school a water bottle. They should have a waterproof coat when it is raining or the forecast is for rain.

Please make sure that we have up to date information on any allergies your child has. We have designed the activities to make sure they are COVID safe but please speak to us if you have any concerns. This week our learning will be as follows;

  • In mathematics we will study statistics. We will create and interpret bar charts and tables.
  • In English we will plan and write reports on beetles as part of our work on The Bluest of Blues by Fiona Robinson.
  • In design and technology we will design and make muesli.
  • In relationship and health education we will think about staying safe.
  • In PE we will develop our skills in Hockey and Running.

PE is on Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure that children come to school   in PE kit on those days. PE lessons are currently taking place outside.

Week Beginning 15th March

The children have settled in really well and worked really hard this week. Thank you to everyone who posted a photograph.We have had some really great discussions based them. [/dropshadowbox]

This week our learning will be as follows;

  • In mathematics we will continue our work on measuring length.
  • In English we are following a new unit work based on The Bluest of Blues by Fiona Robinson, which is a biography of the early photographer Anna Atkins.
  • In Science we will learn about the scientists Albert Einstein and Marie Curie.
  • In RE we will introduce the Easter story.
  • In RHE we will learn about staying safe. We will think about things. people and places which could be a danger to us and think about how we can stay safe.

Children should wear PE kits on those days. As a school we continue to stagger our start and end times. In year 3 we start at 9:15 and finish at 3:30. Children with siblings in the school may arrive earlier and go straight to the classrooom. [/dropshadowbox]
