Recommended reading books for Year 3:

Best Books for Year 3 | Ages 7-8 | BooksForTopics

Expertly selected books for 7 and 8 year old children (lovereading4kids.co.uk)

Reading

Children are asked to read at home on a daily basis and their book should be brought to school each day. It is helpful if parents can comment regularly in their child’s Reading Record, particularly when their child has finished their book. Children are responsible for changing and selecting their own books in the morning.

Homework

Children will be given homework each Friday to be handed in by the following Tuesday. Children are also asked to learn spellings and times tables at home. They are responsible for recording their homework in their homework diary.

Other

Children are asked to bring to school a water bottle. They should have a waterproof coat when it is raining or the forecast is for rain.

Week Beginning 17th December

December 14, 2018

In Waterloo Bridge Class this week our learning will be as follows;

  • In mathematics we continue to work on telling the time to the nearest five minutes.
  • In English we will write the end of our Aladdin stories. We will make our stories into a book.
  • In RE we will learn about Christmas symbolism.
  • In Design and Technology we are sewing using binca fabric.

On Monday we will be visiting St Andrew’s Church to rehearse for our performance. We are looking forward to seeing parents and friends at our Carol Concert at St Andrew’s on Tuesday at 10am.

Our Christmas party is on Wednesday 19th December. Children may wear their own clothes but they should be suitable for morning learning and playing outside. Children should bring some food, without nuts, to share with the class.

  • In Science we will investigate shadows.
  • In RE we will look at the significance of light at Christmas.

We continue to work hard rehearsing for our carol concert on 18th December.  We are grateful to parents who are helping children to rehearse at home.
