Expected and unexpected behaviours can generate : Positive, Neutral ,Negative thoughts.

Jun 14, 2021

We can all display expected and unexpected behaviours : in class, in the corridor, in the playground, at home, at the park.

What happens in others when we display an expected behaviour? Usually, they would experience a positive or neutral thought. They might feel happy, relaxed, content, interested, safe.

When we display an unexpected behaviour, usually others would experience a negative thought such as confusion, annoyance, anger, shock.

Have a look at the video below for some examples of expected and unexpected behaviours in the school setting.

It’s EMPATHY DAY! Let’s celebrate together!

Jun 10, 2021

How many times have you heard this question in the course of your school life: ‘What is the character feeling now?’

In order to answer you need to be able to put yourself in the character’s shoes. That is the skill of EMPATHY.

EMPATHY DAY aims to celebrate this very important skill and to help children and adults to gain some understanding of it through books.

Writers and Illustrators have joined forces for a brilliant EMPATHY WORKOUT: check out the day’s programme. Which is your favourite?
Jacqueline Wilson? Rob Biddulp? Michael Morpurgo?

Why not try some of the family activities such as shopping for shoes with your favourite character? Or what about doing an empathy walk in your neighbourhood?
