Good Morning children & parents… It is finally here- the event we have been waiting for!  The Virtual Sports Week at Howard Primary School!

We have an exciting range of events .

There are 10 activities, children are to chose 5 activities out of the 10 activities  and put these into the tracker (or they can create their own tracker) which is attached (pdf and word) and there will be a link to on the blog Virtual Sports Week starts today! We can’t wait to see pictures/ videos of you all taking part practicing the different activities and filling out your tracking sheets. Our topic for this term is ‘Puppet on a String’ and is based on history. It focuses on changes within living memory. Children will begin to understand and use words and phrases relating to the passing of time. We will be learning about toys and household objects in the past and compare it to the same in modern times.

We continue our learning about poems with the Sound collector by Roger Mc Gough. Have you ever thought of what our world would be without any sounds? A stranger coming into your house and stealing all the sounds. Just imagine that!

 

Activity 1 : Read the poem and enjoy, Identify all the poetic features – What is the theme of the poem?

Can you spot all the poetic features – how many verses are there? Do you spot ant rhyming words, alliteration, onomatopoeic words?

Activity 2 : Can you think of different settings – farm, school, park, zoo, station, shopping centre… Close your eyes. What sounds can you hear in different places. Make a list.

This term we are thinking about changes in many ways, Watch this story Changes, Changes by Pat Hutchins. The characters in this story kept changing to meet different situations.
