Pupils’ Welfare
Medical
Your child will have a hearing, height and weight check in year 1 and the height and weight check will be repeated in year 6.
IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT YOUR CHILD'S HEALTH PLEASE DO NOT SEND HIM OR HER TO SCHOOL BUT CONTACT US TO DISCUSS THE REASON.
If your child has diarrhoea and/or vomiting, please keep them at home for 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.
Our school has several qualified First Aiders and Paediatrics. If your child is unwell at school, we will telephone you at home/work. If there is no answer, we may use the emergency contact number to notify the other person. Parents or carers will be asked to collect their child from school. Please keep telephone numbers held by the school up to date in case we need to contact you.
Every school occasionally suffers from head lice and it is a continual battle to defeat them, so please check your child’s hair every week. Please inform us if your child has head lice so that other parents may check/treat their children and prevent reoccurrence. It is recommended that all long hair should be tied up in a ponytail, bun, plait, etc. The best way to beat head lice is combing long hair regularly as this breaks their legs.
Long Term Medication
If your child is to take medication at school, this will need to be discussed with the Head Teacher or the Office Manager, and a parental consent form obtainable from the office must be completed and signed.
Hospital & Clinic Appointments
Parents, who are collecting children early from school, as in the case of hospital or clinic appointments, must first report to the office so that the children can be signed out of school. We would appreciate some written or verbal information before hand, so that we can be sure your child is ready, not say in the middle of a P.E. lesson when you wish to collect him or her. If possible please try and make the appointments for after school or early in the morning so as not to disrupt their education.
