Key Information:

  • A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
  • Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)
  • Spellings will be learnt at school and tested on Mondays. Please click on link: school-links-spellingjournalyear4southwark-1
  • In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.

Week Beginning 4th April

April 4, 2022

This is our last week of term. The children have worked hard and are looking forward to a well deserved break.

This week our learning will be as follows;

  • In English we will be looking at the poem Jellyfish by Michael Rosen, we will look at the way jellyfish move before planning and writing our own Jellyfish poem.
  • In mathematics we will introduce improper fractions.
  • In science we will learn about invertebrates.
  • In RHE we will think about anxiety.
  • Our blocked foundation subject this week will be RE. We will learn about the importance of the Bible for Christians, compare versions of the Easter story in the four gospels and look at Easter signs and symbols.

We will do PE on Wednesday and children should come into school in PE kit on that day. There will be no swimming this week.

It was lovely to see parents last week. It is really nice to be able to do parents evening in person again. We are looking forward to seeing more parents on Wednesday evening. Please speak to your child’s teacher if you have not been able to make an appointment.

 

 

Week Beginning 28th March

March 27, 2022

This week our learning will be as follows;

  • In mathematics we will continue our work on mixed number fractions.
  • In English we will compose an oral poem as a class and work towards writing a “change your mind” poem.
  • In science we will classify animals.
  • In RHE we will learn about the risks associated with alcohol.
  • Our blocked foundation subject will be Design and Techonology. We will construct our bags and decorate them with fabric crayons. Finally we will evaluate our bags.

Millennium Class will do PE on Wednesday and Friday. Southwark Class will swim on Tuesday and do PE on Wednesday. On PE days children should come to school in PE kit with their school jumpers.
