Key Information:
- A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
- Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)

- In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will learn to use the distributive law to multiply numbers larger than 12 and one digit numbers.
- In English we will use our imagination to plan and write a continuation to the Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry.
- In science we will learn about switches.
- In RHE we will continue our work on the Garden of Dreams.
- Our blocked foundation subject this week is RE. We will continue our work on Islam learning about the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and the night of power, the Hadith and the Qu’ran.
We break up for the half term holidays on Friday. The children have worked really hard this half term and deserve a break! There is an inset day on Monday 14th February and children return to school on Tuesday 15th February.
This week our learning is as follows;
- In mathematics we will learn to use distributive war to help us carry out multiplication calculations and solve problems.
- In English we will continue our work based on the Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry.
- In Science we will investigate how switches work in electrical circuits.
- In RHE we will create a garden of dreams.
- Our blocked foundation subject this week is RE. We will learn about Authority and Worship in the Islamic faith.
Southwark Class will do PE on Wednesday and Thursday. Millenium Class will do PE on Wednesday and Swimming on Tuesday.
Homework for the rest of the term will be for the children to learn to rapidly recall their multiplication facts in preparation for the Multiplication Tables Check in June. All children should use the Times Tables Rockstars Website.
On Tuesday it is Chinese New Year. There will be a special lunch and children may wear something red.
