Key Information:
- A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
- Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)

- In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In Mathematics we will be will be using our knowledge of place value to add and subtract multiples of ten, one hundred and one thousand from four digit numbers.
- In English we will continue our work around the Boy at the Back of the Class. We will present our information leaflets and write questions for the main character. We will also be carrying out assessments of the children’s reading, spelling and grammar.
- In science we will be exploring how high or low sounds are created.
- We will continue to study history as our blocked foundation subject this week. We will learn about the Ancient Greeks.
On Monday we have visitors in school to teach the children about first aid. This will be a great opportunity for the children.
Millenium Class will have swimming on Tuesday and PE on Wednesday. Southwark Class will do PE on Wednesday and Thursday.
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In English we will continue our work around The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Rauf. We will investigate the background to the book by finding out about refugees, before writing information leaflets.
- In mathematics we will learn to order, compose and decompose four-digit numbers.
- In science we will find out how sound travels.
- Our blocked foundation subject this week will be history. We will introduce Ancient Greece.
- PE for all children in year 4 will be on Wednesday. Children in Southwark Class will also do PE on Thursday and children in Millenium Class will swim on Tuesday.
