Key Information:
- A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
- Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)
- Spellings will be learnt at school and tested on Mondays. Please click on link: school-links-spellingjournalyear4southwark-1
- In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.
Hello!
Here’s what we will be learning next week:
Maths- We will be revising our learning about fractions and decimals.
English- We will be doing some art work and exploring the setting and a role on the wall exercise to better understand the main character of our new, mystery text. We will also be designing cosy dens for our characters and practising our descriptive writing by writing about someone else’s design.
Our class read will also be linked and if you would like to read along, it is Rumaysa by Radiya Hafiza
PE- We will be working on gymnastics skills, balances and body shapes.
RHE- We will be thinking about keeping healthy and body confidence
During this hot weather, please ensure your child comes to school with a water bottle. It may also be a good idea to bring a hat for playtimes as there is little shade in our areas. Children may bring sun cream if they are able to apply it themselves.
As always, feel free to contact us with any questions.
The Year Four Team
Hello!
We can’t believe the first week is already over! What a fabulous week it was! Sports Day was a great success and we all enjoyed it immensely!
Here’s what we will be learning next week:
Maths- We will be identifying types of angles and comparing them and identifying types of triangles
English- We will be finishing our narrative writing about the Ice Palace and then will be beginning a new book (not to be immediately revealed!) which encompasses the genres of fairy tales and fractured fairy tales (new spins on traditional fairy tale stories). We will be looking at the first picture and trying to predict what we think the story will be about.
Our class read will also be linked and if you would like to read along, it is Rumaysa by Radiya Hafiza
PE- We will be continuing to work on our tennis skills in lessons this week, specifically forehand and backhand strokes.
RHE- We will be thinking about keeping healthy and body confidence
