Key Information:
- A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
- Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)

- In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.
Hello Year 4!
We hope you are all ready for another fantastic week! Here’s what we will be learning;
Maths- we will be learning about area this week, counting squares to calculate areas and comparing the area of different shapes. We will also be looking at corresponding problems.
English- we will be continuing to look at the poems of Valerie Bloom and writing a class poem in a similar style.
Geography- we will be learning about how tribes live a traditional lifestyle in the rainforest and comparing it to our own.
ICT- we will be beginning to design our own simple toy using scratch
Science- we will be learning and creating simple food chains which include a producer, prey and predator.
Spanish- we will be saying what we can do, remembering some simple verbs
Music- we will be listening and responding to a piece of music
RHE- the girls will be learning some facts about puberty while the boys are talking about peer pressure and the effects of smoking on the body.
PE- we will be developing close catching and wicket-keeping skills as we continue to learn about cricket.

Welcome back to school Year 4! We are super excited to see you all again!
This week we will be learning:
Maths- continuing our work on decimals, we will be adding decimals to make a whole, ordering and comparing decimals and rounding decimals.
English-we are starting a new, exciting text featuring poetry from Caribbean artists. We will be learning and performing poems as well as learning about the poets themselves
Geography-we are learning to decribe the layers of the rainforest
Spanish-to learn some verbs in Spanish.
Music-we will be exploring some body percussion
PE- we will be learning some Cricket skills
For those children who are not attending school, we will continue to post work on Google Classroom but there will be no live lessons.
