Animals that lay eggs

Monday, 1st May 2017 -Bank holiday -the school will be closed. Children will return on Tuesday 2nd May 2017
Friday, 26th May 2017 – Last day of Summer 1. Children return to school for Summer 2 on Tuesday 6th June 2017[/dropshadowbox]
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING:

This is their final week at Howard, so if you haven’t seen them yet please pop in to our class for a visit. Sadly they will leave us on Friday to be taken back to the farm.[/dropshadowbox]
LITERACY:
Book Focus: Non Fiction Text – The life cycle of a duck
The children will learn how to keep a diary of the ducklings as they observe them each day during this week.
PHONICS:
Please continue to practise sound recognition with your child using the video links provided in previous blogs. Encourage them to apply their phonic knowledge every time you read or write with them.
READING AT HOME
Please continue to write a comment in your child’s yellow reading diary and let us know how they are getting on with their reading at home.
WORD LISTS
Please be reminded that we now only check key word lists on a weekly basis (on the same day that they change their reading books)
MATHS:
This week we will focus on counting in steps of 2 and 5. We will also introduce the concept of doubling numbers to 10.
UW – Knowledge and understanding the World
The children will be learning about the life cycle of a duck, discussing the different stages in the life of this animal. We will also continue to discuss other animals that lay eggs and the children will have an opportunity to share what they have learnt from their homework.
