Week beginning 12th November 2018
Writing
We have been continuing to work on our autumn poems. You will have seen the homework we sent home last week about similes (e.g the girl floated into the room like a cloud/ he is as fast as lightning). We have been using this technique in our learning. We are also focusing on the use of alliteration and onomatopoeia. Alliteration is where the same letter/ sound is repeated in a sentence. For example: the sneaky squirrels scavenged silently for their nuts.
Reading
We are continuing to read The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me by Roald Dahl.
Maths
Due to a variety of reasons, we are still continuing with our work on addition and subtraction this week. We will also be giving the children a short calculating paper soon.
Geography
We are continuing to compare Croydon to Darwin, Australia.
Science
We will be looking at materials and their properties this half term.
