Information writing – This week our learning will be based around the our Virtual Sports Week. The children should write an information leaflet about a sports person. They should use the skills they learned during the week’s beginning 11th and 18th May when they created their Queen Boudicca leaflets.

  • Day 1 – Watch the video clip below;

Choose a sportsperson mentioned in the video who you would like to find more about (Helena Lucas, Andy Murray, Maude Watson, Jesse Owens, Bobby Moore, Ian Botham, Tessa Sanderson, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Steve Redgrave or Jessica Ennis-Hill). Write some questions you would like to ask to find out more about your sportsperson.

  • Day 2 – Use the internet to find out information about your chosen sportsperson. Can you answer the questions you wrote on day 1?
  • Day 3 – Write the text of your information leaflet. Use questions as sub-headings and organise your information in paragraphs to answer each question. Don’t forget to edit and up-level your work. Try to use synonyms and antonyms to make your writing more interesting.
  • Day 4 and 5 – Make your leaflet. Copy out your text in your best writing and include diagrams, labels, illustrations and captions.
