Week beginning 15th October
This week we are continuing with our story: Hansel & Gretel.
We will be thinking more in depth about the story answering key questions about the character’s feelings and motivations. We will be writing the story in our own words using story language and adding amazing adjectives to make them creative and interesting.
By the end of the week we will be thinking about the structure of letters, in particular, apology letters as we will be writing letters from Hansel & Gretel after the half term.
SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)
There will also be a strong focus on expanded noun phrases to help with our story writing.
Reading
We are continuing our class read Fantastic Mr Fox. The class are really enjoying it so far!
We will also be using pictures to work on key reading skills using the ERIC scheme.
Maths
This week we focusing on learning strategies for addition and subtraction.
Each day we will be using either number lines or place value charts to add & subtract ones from 2-digit numbers. Our main strategy will be bridging 10 to do so.
Geography
This week we will be learning about a locality different from Croydon. Our focus will be on Darwin, Australia as this is where Amy Johnson landed on her flight to Australia.
Science
We will be looking at materials and their properties this half term.
Important information
Teacher – Parent appointments will be taking place on Wednesday.
Monday 29th October is an INSET day. The school will be closed for the children.
