Week beginning 16th March 2020

A big thank you to all those who attended one of our SATs preparation meetings.

This week is known as Shakespeare Week. Throughout the course of the week, the children shall be taking part in some engaging, Shakespeare-themed activities.

Maths – We will be looking at long multiplication and division.

English – This week, we shall be creating a character profile of Juliet by studying the quotes from Shakespeare’s original text, Romeo and Juliet. Using this profile, we are going to be planning, writing and editing a letter from Juliet to her father (Lord Capulet) pleading with him to stop the marriage to Count Paris.

Reading – We shall be continuing with developing our comprehension skills. Our class reading books this week are:

       

This half term, to like with our key text in our English lessons – Romeo and Juliet – we have chosen to read a series of short, condensed Shakespeare stories that have been adapted by Andrew Matthews and Tony Ross. This fantastic collection allows children to understand the plot lines across a range of genres: tragedies, comedies and histories to allow them to make links within the texts.

Science – We shall be continuing to look at nutrition this week. We shall be creating posters to encourage people to maintain a balanced diet.
