Maths – This week’s maths learning objectives are:
- Use place value to add and subtract numbers with 3 decimal places;
- Multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000;
- Round numbers with 3 decimal places to the nearest whole, tenth and hundredth;
- Use written addition to add numbers with 3 decimal places in context of measures (litres, km, kg);
- Use rounding to estimate totals and round answers to a given level of accuracy.
English – This week, we shall be starting our new unit of Non-chronological reports. We shall be basing our learning this half term on our class text, Holes by Louis Sachar. This week, we shall be planning, writing and editing our non-chronological reports based on a rattlesnake.
Science – We shall be starting our new unit Animals, including humans.
PE – Swimming is on this week. On Fridays, we shall be doing boxercise sessions.
Reading – We shall be continuing to read our class text, Holes. We shall be completing some skimming activities this week, as well as completing a past reading paper.
Geography – This term, we will be learning all about Scandinavia. This week’s learning objectives are:
• To understand key aspects of the climate zones of Scandinavia.
• To understand the position and significance of the Arctic circle
• Use graphs to identify physical features.
History – We shall be learning about how the role of propaganda during WW2.
Key dates – We shall be visiting Kew Gardens on Monday 3rd February 2020.
