AUTUMN 2 TOPIC: Light and Dark
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING
LITERACY:
- Core Text: It was a cold dark night by Tim Hopgood
- Phonics learning: This week the children will be in group phonics lessons which will continue to work on blending and reviewing previously taught sounds. Please check Google Classroom for homework relevant to your child’s group.
MATHS:
Mastering Number: This week the children will:
- practise subitising amounts to 4
- revisit ‘more than’ or ‘fewer than’ by looking
- compare groups of up to 3 objects by matching them 1:1
- say when there is an equal number, too many or not enough.
- build towers with an equal number of squares
- match the squares in the towers 1:1
UW & CAL: Continuing with our theme of light and dark, we will begin the week by developing an understanding of sources of light. We will then move on to exploring how a lightbulb works. We will also explore how to create a lightbulb circuit.
CAL & UW: Discuss the significance of Advent to Christians.
EAD: We will be engaging in a variety of crafts relating to advent, including creating our own wreath with candles.
PE: Dance: To copy and repeat a short set of controlled movements and actions in pairs.
