Huge thanks again for supporting our 2nd bake sale.

On Friday we raised a further £108.10, bringing our Fun Friday Fundraising total to £273.50. We are just £126.50 away from reaching that £400 goal! We hope to continue our fundraising efforts with more Fun Friday events in the new year.

Thank you very much to our parent volunteers for setting up and manning the bake sale on Friday.

Kind regards

Miss Pillay [/dropshadowbox]

Learning about Space

Can you draw a picture of the planets in our Solar System? Can you use your knowledge of initial sounds to write labels for each planet in your picture? Which is the smallest planet? Which is the biggest planet? [/dropshadowbox]

AUTUMN TERM TOPIC: Light and Dark

LITERACY: Book Focus: A range of Space themed non-fiction texts

This week we will explore the differences between fiction and non-fiction texts

Phonics: We are revising all the Phase 2 sounds learnt thus far and will continue to teach assisted blending to support their ability to read short decodable cvc words. The children have also learnt the first 5 high frequency/tricky words (I, the, to, go, no) which are not phonetically decodable yet so can be learnt through repetitive practice. A good idea to practise at home would be to write each of these 5 words on paper or card and attach on cupboards or doors at home and encourage your child to recognise and read them daily.

Please continue to use the daily decoding homework to support your child with learning to blend sounds to read short cvc words. Please help your child by listening to them as they practise reading the sounds and words using their phonic knowledge. Help them to point under each sound as they say each sound, then sweep their finger across the word as they blend to decode the word. Please keep these sheets at home

MATHS: This week the children will explore each of the numerals 0-20 as a quantity using concrete objects and pictorial representations to correspond to a given numeral.

EAD: Please use the videos below to practise the Christmas songs your child will be singing at their performance to you on Tuesday 12th December 2017[/dropshadowbox]
