Persuasive Writing – This week the children will work towards being able to create a TV advertisement for their soup. They should use the following daily activities;
- Lesson 1 – Look at slogans PowerPoint below. Think about what makes a good slogan and have a go at writing a slogan for your soup.
Use the planning document below. Write in a rhetorical question (you can use one you planned last week) and a slogan for your soup.
TV advertisment planning sheet
- Lesson 2 – Listen to some advertising jingles (a jingle is a short song or tune used in advertising.) You can listen to some jingles using the link below or use some of your favourite TV advertisements.
http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2012/06/the-brit-list-britains-10-catchiest-ad-jingles
Now have a go at writing a jingle which could be used in an advertisement for your soup. Think about using rhyme, repetition or alliteration. You could set the jingle to a well know tune. Add the jingle to the planning sheet you started yesterday.
- Lesson 3 – Have a look at the soup advertisement below. Compare it to other advertisements on TV or on-line. What do you notice about the advert? Is there a voice over? Is there a script? Can you see the product clearly? Is there a slogan? What about a jingle?
Complete your planning document by writing a script for your TV advert. Include a voice over and dialogue between characters.
- Lesson 4Practise performing the advertisement for your soup using the planning document
- Lesson 5- Perform your advertisement. If possible ask someone to video you and then edit your video using movie maker or imovie.
