Thank you for your prompt response to parent meeting requests. Please check your child’s bookbag on Monday for a slip confirming the time of your appointment. Please note that you will have a 10 minute appointment on the date selected. Also, we have only received 14 responses from Chelsea Class parents about the Phonics Workshops on the 11th October. Thank you very much to these parents for your quick replies. If others are available to attend please send in your replies by Tuesday at the latest.

Kind Regards,

Miss Pillay and Miss Thompson [/dropshadowbox]

AUTUMN TERM TOPIC: All about me

LITERACY:

Book Focus: Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson

This clever and charming tale about a little monkey who goes in search of his mum will keep the children guessing all the way to the end of the book. Our shared reading of this book will act as a stimulus for a range of learning this week.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World: We will be talking about the wild animals which feature in this week’s focus book. We will discuss different animal habitats and explore animal patterns

Personal, Social and Emotional Development: We will continue to encourage our ethos of using ‘kind hands‘ and that ‘sharing is caring’. We would appreciate if these phrases could also be used at home.

Maths: The children will be learning all about numbers within 5. They will learn how to represent these numbers as numerals and as quantities; to order these numbers from the smallest quantity to the largest quantity along a number line. The children will learn to use a range of resources to support their understanding of representing numbers within 5.

Early Morning Work: the children will start practising letter formation and writing their names every morning as soon as they enter the classroom, so please ensure your child arrives promptly at 8.50.

Helping your child develop independence: You could help by allowing your child to take responsibility for putting their  bookbags into the boxes by themselves and by allowing them to enter the classroom by themselves. Also it would help if  you could please exit as soon as your child enters the classroom to ensure the class doorway area is clear to allow other children to enter the classroom. [/dropshadowbox]

[dropshadowbox align=”none” effect=”raised” width=”auto” height=”” background_color=”#fffffff” border_width=”15″ border_color=”#2721ef” ]HOMEWORK:

Can you draw a picture of your family? Can you name the people in your family? Can you ask an adult to help you label your picture?

Class library books: Please be reminded that your child has been given a class library book which you can read to your child for enjoyment. A reading scheme book will be sent out later in the term. Books will be changed once a week. [/dropshadowbox]
