Children have settled back into the class / school routines and are enjoying our new context. This week they will begin to learn about the Moon and space.

Our learning …
This term our new context is called…
‘Now you see me, now you don’t’ and it is about Space especially focusing on the ‘Moon’.
This is related to exploring space in Science as well as learning about significant people who has made a contribution to world history – our focus is on Neil Armstrong. We will also be learning about classification of animals in science – mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, amphibians etc..
Please check your child’s homework book for the overview of this term’s curriculum.
English
Our focus text is ‘Man on the Moon’ by Simon Bartram. Your child will continue developing their skills of prediction and questioning. They will begin to identify and differentiate between fiction and non-fiction texts and understand the different features of texts. Fiction – stories, pictures, characters, events, sequencing events (beginning, middle and end). Non-fiction – true, facts, contents, photographs etc…
Maths
We will be learning to tell the time – o’clock and half past and make comparisons. Children will also begin to understand the different units of time – seconds, minutes, hour, day, night, week, month, year, seasons etc…
