Week commencing 8th of November

Wow! Half way through our first term already! Time is flying past!

To those of you celebrating Diwali or Bonfire Night over the weekend, have a wonderful time!

Here’s what we will be learning next week:

English- We will be continuing to build vocabulary and reading skills in our grammar lessons on Monday and Friday. The focus for grammar this week is descriptive writing with emphasis on suffixes such as -less or -ful; in our reading skills, we are looking at meanings of words and synonyms. Our class text is Into the Forest by Anthony Browne and we are working on descriptive writing about storms.

Our class read is The Boy with the Bronze Axe by Kathleen Fidler.

We will be beginning to send home reading books on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for those children who have not already chosen them. Reading diaries should be brought to school each day.

Maths- We will be continuing to work on column addition, focusing on adding from the right hand side, regrouping and efficient methods for addition.

If your child would like to practise their learning at home, there are lots of free games which they can use, including Daily 10 from Topmarks or Hit the Button

PE- We will be continuing to work on skipping and basketball skills this week.

DT- We will be trying different types of muesli and muesli ingredients before designing and making our own.

Science- We will be designing a game using magnets.

Homework- We will post homework on Google Classroom each week. We have added tasks to Mathletics. Additionally, the children will have access to Language Angels to practise their new vocabulary in Spanish. We hope to give your child access to TTRockstars also this week, a fun way to practise times tables.

PE will take place on Monday and Tuesday for Blackfriars class and Tuesday and Thursday for Waterloo class. Children should come to school in their school PE kits on those days.

RHE- We are thinking about ways to resolve conflicts

Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school each day.
